Biographies

Melita Spahic

Melita studied at London Contemporary Dance School and gained a Higher Education Certificate, a Postgraduate Diploma with Distinction and an MA specialising in Choreography. During her studies she was supported by a Frankopan Scholarship and Helena Kennedy Awards.

Valentina Golfieri

Valentina Golfieri started her dance training in Italy. After a year long experience as an apprentice with the Compagnia Michele Pogliani in Rome Valentina moved to London to join the London Contemporary Dance School. There she completed her BA with First Class Honours and joined EDge, the school’s Postgraduate Performance Company. With them she toured across the UK and Europe.

Avatara Ayuso

Avatâra studied at the Conservatorio Profesional de Danza de Mallorca and continued her training in Madrid with Carmina Ocaña. In 2004 she graduated in Linguistics with distinction from Universidad Complutense de Madrid and did the Certificate of Higher Education at London Contemporary Dance School. Avatâra joined the D.A.N.C.E. program directed by William Forsythe, Wayne McGregor, Frédéric Flamand and Angelin Preljocaj in 2005.

Annie Lok

Annie trained in inter-disciplinary collaboration exploring site-specific, installation, live and screen based performance and lives and works as an Independent dance and film maker in London. She also studied choreography at The Place.

Her work has been shown in Europe, India, Hong Kong, Canada, U.S and the UK and she has lectured at various institutions including Brighton, Roehampton and Goldsmiths Universities.

Petra Maria Söör

Swedish-Italian Petra graduated in 2005 from London Contemporary Dance School BA-Hons also having done Exchange at CNSMD de Lyon. After graduating she joined the postgraduate company EDge, performing works by Trisha Brown, Sue MacLennan, Siobhan Davies, and Anais Bouts. At LCDS Petra also performed works by Kim Brandstrup and Hofesh Shechter. Since graduating Petra has worked with Aletta Collins, Johann Lindell, Anna Williams and Alessandro Carboni (Associazione Ooffuoro).

Antonio Jesus de la Fe Guedes

Antonio Jesús de la Fe Guedes originally studied physiotherapy at ULPGC. He started ballet training in his home town, Las Palmas de Gran Canaria and has also completed a certification in Pilates for rehabilitation.

Steven Johnstone

Originally from Yeovil in Somerset, Steve Johnstone graduated from London Contemporary Dance School in 2007. Before moving to London, Steve won the Rose Bowl Award for his performance as White Face Clown in Barnum and worked with Pretty Good Girl Dance Theatre, with whom he performed in Resolution! 2003.

Wayne Walker-Allen

After spending nine years recording and touring with various rock and pop bands, Wayne became involved in a community dance project in his home town at the newly built Derby Dance Centre. This sparked his interest in music for movement and was soon accompanying Contemporary Dance class and African and Caribbean Dance class at Derby Dance.

Andrew Clarke

Andrew Clarke is a singer and a songwriter. Born in London, with a background in performance and theatre, he has been playing music around the city since his teens. Originally drawn towards the American folk traditions of Blues and Country, and singers such as Tom Waits and Leonard Cohen, he has moved to embrace the English folk and theatre traditions of his youth.

Darshana Vora

Darshana is an artist whose work addresses the dynamics of site and space in relation to physical and emotional states of self. She works mainly in video and site-specific installation genres. Working with structure, pace, time and relationships thereof, the works present a challenging dialogue in the place they are installed.
